SAN ANTONIO -

Some neighbors on the city's south side are worried about a large beehive dangling over the main roadway.

The hive is located right over the 1900 block of Ann Arbor.

Zoila Mendieta, who lives across the street from the big hive, said they just can't get anyone to help them out.

She said she noticed the beehive a couple of weeks ago, but that things got worse when the bees started flying closer to their houses.

Antonio Serna, who lives on the property with the beehive tree, said he called the city's code enforcement department for help.

Serna said he thought it was the city's responsibility since the hive is dangling over a public street.

Code Enforcement did come out to check the hive out, but Serna but said that he was told that since the hive is attached to a tree coming from his yard, they can't do anything about it.

Mendieta said she's worried about the safety of her grandchildren.

"I have two grandchildren that are allergic to bees," she said. "Everybody is elderly here. They can't get up there and do anything."

KSAT  contacted code enforcement Wednesday, but did not get a call back as of Wednesday evening.
