Last-minute shoppers fill stores looking for final gifts
Stores busy with procrastinators on Christmas Eve
For every last-minute shopper at Academy on Vance Jackson on Monday morning, there was another excuse for being there on Christmas Eve.
"I'm shopping at the last minute because I just got paid," Paul Cervantes said.
He was buying boots for his grandmother.
Letty Gomez had a longer list. She still needed to shop for six people.
"I started on Friday and I didn't shop Saturday or Sunday, so today's the last time," she said. "I'm looking at the clock and I know stores start to close, so I have no idea what to do."
Carolyn Hall had to finish her shopping at the last minute because she said it's hard to pick gifts for her husband.
"I'm a little overwhelmed because he's one of those who just goes and gets what he wants, so I'm trying to find him something different," she said.
The Carpenter family took the divide and conquer approach. They had just a few more items on their shopping list.
"We decided to come here and now we're going to split up, because they're for each other, so we're actually going to split and meet outside back at the car," Tammy Carpenter said.
