Light sleet, snow reported in SA area
Rain, snow mix possible Thursday night into Friday morning
Light sleet and light snow fell in the San Antonio area Thursday morning ahead of a cold air mass and moisture that's expected to continue delivering a wintry mix of precipitation into Friday.
Sleet was reported at around 8:30 a.m. in Shavano Park, Converse, Hondo, Devine and Del Rio. The sleet was light and didn't accumulate. Snow was reported in Bulverde, Pipe Creek and Camp Verde.
A winter weather advisory was issued for Kerr, Real, Edwards and Val Verde counties from midnight Thursday through noon Friday.
The National Weather Service said that rain, sleet and snow will begin to fall this afternoon in those counties and will change to snow tonight. Snow of up to one inch is expected to accumulate and will make driving dangerous.
San Antonio is expected to receive cold rain and some sleet. No accumulation is expected since a low of 39 was forecast.
The threat of icy conditions prompted Rocksprings ISD to delay the start of school on Friday until 10 a.m.
