This year's Luminaria festival is adding more artists and expanding past HemisFair Park, city officials announced during a press conference Thursday night.
The 6th annual Luminaria, which showcases local and national artists, is scheduled from 7 p.m. to midnight on March 9.
City officials said this year's Luminaria has expanded past HemisFair Park to include Alamo Street from Market to César Chávez. Part of the event will also take place on the Riverwalk.
"There are so many artists, so many different platforms. It's just a great night to appreciate art and to do it in a non-stuffy environment, to have fun," Mayor Julian Castro said.
Heavy rain postponed last year's Luminaria. Officials said they have a backup plan in place for this year's event if there is severe weather.
