A man was expected to be charged with aggravated assault with a motor vehicle after police said he tried to run his ex-girlfriend off the road.

The incident happened around 9:30 a.m. Sunday near Culebra Road and General McMullen.

Police said the man was driving in the area when he spotted his ex-girlfriend's car. The man then reportedly turned into traffic and began to follow her. When he caught up to her vehicle, police said he slammed his sport utility vehicle into her car several times, causing the the car's engine to stop running.

The man was taken into custody.

There was word on any injuries.
