Arrest made in 2006 fatal bar shooting

SAN ANTONIO -

San Antonio police have tracked down a suspect in connection with a 2006 murder outside an East Side bar.

They arrested Joseph Williams, 37, Wednesday on a charge of murder.

Police had issued an arrest warrant for Williams within a few weeks of the Dec. 2006 murder.

They believe he shot and killed Charles Ray Scallion outside Santa’s Place in the 400 block of Spriggsdale Avenue

Witnesses told police at the time that the two men began arguing after they accidentally bumped into each other while leaving the bar.

They told investigators they saw Williams reach into his car and pull out a gun.

It’s still not clear how detectives tracked down Williams.
