Man arrested in San Antonio strip club shooting
Suspect Rudy Cantu, 35, also wounded in shooting
Rudy Cantu, 35, the suspect in a shooting at Sugar’s Men’s Club, was arrested after seeking treatment at a hospital for a gunshot wound he suffered in the incident.
Cantu was arrested Thursday on a charge of aggravated assault. Bond for him was set at $100,000.
San Antonio police said Cantu was one of two people who fired shots early Thursday morning inside Sugar’s located in the 2700 block of NW Loop 410.
The other shooter, Ruben Martinez, was hit twice by gunshots. A dancer, Leticia Gonzalez, 24, was also caught in the crossfire, police said.
Investigators at the scene said Martinez appeared to be defending himself and may not face charges for returning gunfire.
An arrest affidavit stated that it was only after Cantu went to a hospital emergency room seeking treatment, that police realized he also had been shot.
San Antonio police showed his photo to a witness who was able to identify Cantu as the shooter, the affidavit stated.
