New Braunfels police arrested 28-year-old Matthew David Hickey, of Marion, Texas, in the drunken driving death of 61-year-old Petra Hernandez, of New Braunfels.

Hickey was charged with two counts of intoxication assault and one county of intoxication manslaughter in the Sunday, Sept. 2, wreck that involved three vehicles in the 300 block of North Seguin Street around 6:19 p.m.

New Braunfels police said Hickey was driving his Toyota Tundra when he caused a wreck that included a 2001 Ford Ranger. In the Ranger was Hernandez, who was AirLifted to University Hospital, where she later died.

Hickey was booked into the Comal County Sheriff’s Office.
