SAN ANTONIO -

A man is charged with murder after his stabbing victim dies three weeks after he attacked him.

According to authorities, Daniel Reyes, 28, stabbed James Wiederhold, 67, on Aug. 12 at an apartment complex in the 100 block of Babcock Road.

Wiederhold was at University Hospital when he died from the injuries on Sept. 6, the medical examiner said.

Reyes was originally charged with injuring the elderly, but Wiederhold's death prompted prosecutors to change the charge to murder.

Police said Reyes and his girlfriend had been arguing when Wiederhold, Reyes' neighbor, said he was calling the police.

That's when Reyes grabbed a knife from his apartment and stabbed Wiederhold multiple times, authorities said.

Reyes is in Bexar County jail with bond set at $100,000.
