Man dead after being hit by fuel truck

Police say driver tried to avoid the accident

SAN ANTONIO -

A man is dead after he was hit by a fuel truck while crossing the highway.

It happened Saturday morning about 3:45 on I-35 and Walzem.

Police identified the victim as 20 year-old Wesley Finch of Twins Falls, Idaho.

They say the fuel tanker was in the northbound of the highway, when the victim ran towards the truck.

The driver of that big rig honked his horn, but they say Finch continued running towards him.

The truck driver tried to get out of the way by swerving to the left, but was unable to avoid hitting the the victim.

He died at the scene.

The northbound lanes of I-35 were closed while the scene was cleared.
