Witnesses: Rig stopped, then left scene of fatal crash

SAN ANTONIO -

A man is dead and police are searching for the big rig driver who killed him, then left the scene of the fatal crash.

The fatal crash happened on Loop 410 over Roosevelt early Sunday.

Police said people in a car told them they hit the victim with the mirror of their car, causing him to stumble.

The people told investigators an 18-wheeler then slammed into the man. They said the big rig driver did stop, but then drove off.

Police said the impact of the crash killed the man.

Traffic detectives are now looking for that driver. They said he was in a rig that was towing some sort of tank.

The name of the victim has not yet been released.
