SAN ANTONIO -

Black Friday got off to a rowdy start at South Park Mall where San Antonio police say a shopper pulled a gun on another shopper Thursday evening.

According to a San Antonio police report, both shoppers were waiting in line outside the Sears store when they got into an argument.

The shopper with the gun -- identified by police as Alejandro Alex, 35 -- pulled out the weapon, a black 9mm semiautomatic handgun -- because he claimed the other shopper punched him in the face.

The second shopper fled after the argument and police forced everyone involved to leave the store.

The police report states Alex had a permit to carry the weapon and no charges had been filed as of Friday morning.

“It was an isolated incident,” said Cesar Rodriguez, vice president and general manager at South Park Mall. “Our priority is the safety of our shoppers and our employees.”

Rodriguez said he could not discuss the incident because of the pending police investigation.
