SAN ANTONIO -

A man claims his throat was slashed during a home invasion at his northwest San Antonio apartment early Wednesday morning.

Despite the injury, police said the victim called 911 just before 4 a.m. to report the incident.

First responders arrived to the Chapel Ridge apartments in the 7200 block of Snowden Road, and found the man lying on the floor of his apartment suffering from significant blood loss.

According to police, the victim said that one or two men broke into his apartment and slashed his neck.

The victim did not give a description of the suspect because he said it was dark inside and he was unsure whether anything was stolen from his apartment.

The victim was taken to University Hospital in serious condition and underwent surgery.

According to San Antonio police, there was minor damage around the door of the victim's apartment, but it did not initially appear as if anyone broke in. The case remains under investigation.
