A man was hospitalized after he was shot by a suspected burglar early Thursday morning on the Northeast Side.

San Antonio police said the suspect stole a truck from a business in the 10100 block of Eveningway Drive near Interstate 35 and Starlight Terrace.

The suspect busted through a gate and the witness called 911.

The suspected burglar then fired five shots at the witness and hit him in the foot.

The victim managed to walk to a nearby Valero store to call for help.

He was taken to Northeast Baptist Hospital in stable condition. The suspect remained at-large as of 7 a.m. Thursday.
