Man shot during business robbery in southwest San Antonio
Suspect fled with cash after shooting, robbery at Alamo Auto & Title on Buffalo Street
A man was hospitalized after he was shot in the chest during a robbery on the Southwest Side.
The suspect walked into Alamo Auto & Title in the 2100 block of Buffalo and pointed a gun at a clerk, then fired a warning shot in the wall and demanded money, San Antonio police said.
An SAPD police report stated the victim, identified as James Gonzalez, 50, was there to pick up the clerk when he heard the shot and went to check on her. He was then shot by the suspect in the chest, San Antonio police said.
Police said the suspect jumped the counter and took the cash drawer, then fled on foot.
Gonzalez was taken to University Hospital in critical condition. Police could not find the cash drawer, but said the suspect dropped some money on Adolph Street.
According to SAPD, the suspect is described as being about 35 years old, about 5 feet 10 inches tall with a medium build. Police said he was wearing black clothing and had a ski mask covering his face.
The suspect's vehicle is believed to be a late-'90s model green Chevy pickup truck with a silver tool box and business logo on both driver and passenger door.
