SAN ANTONIO -

San Antonio police are investigating an apparent drive-by shooting that happened on the North Side late Tuesday night.

Gun shots were reported just after 9 p.m. in the 1300 block of Perennial.

According to an SAPD sergeant, a man was shot multiple times and possibly in the chest.

Police say he was conscious and talking before he was taken to the hospital.

Further investigation revealed, the shooting victim did not live at the apartment complex and he also told police he has no idea why he was targeted.

According to residents in the area, violent crimes do not typically happen in their neighborhood.

They describe the area as quiet with Coker Elementary School just a block away from the crime scene.

The condition of the victim or his name had not been released as of 11 p.m. Tuesday.
