A pedestrian was struck by a car on Interstate 10 West near downtown early Thursday after he apparently suffered a stab wound earlier in the morning.
San Antonio police responded to a call for a pedestrian accident on I-10 West just past the I-35 South ramp near Culebra around 6 a.m.
Police say the pedestrian was lying on the ground when he was struck by the car.
Investigators said the pedestrian had already suffered a stab wound to his lower abdomen, and that may have been the reason he was lying on the interstate.
The pedestrian was rushed to the hospital and was expected to recover, San Antonio police said.
An investigation is ongoing into how the man had been stabbed, however a police spokesman said the victim was not cooperating with investigators and refusing to give his name or how he received his injury.
He was taken to University Hospital with non-life-threatening injuries and listed as "John Doe" due to his uncooperative behavior.
The westbound lanes of I-10 were shut down for about an hour while police investigated.
