SAN ANTONIO -

A woman accused of kidnapping her own child is believed to be in the San Antonio area. Maria Earl, 50, was last seen in Mason County with her son, John Stanley Earl Jr., 7, in June.

The boy’s father, John Stanely Earl, was granted custody of the child, but has not seen the boy since the summer.

“She lost custody through Child Protective Services, because she was an abusive mother, and did not take care of the child," said private investigator Charlie Parker, who was hired by the boy’s father. “He just wants the boy back. He wants to have a chance. He had his day in court, and the court deemed she's supposed to give him the child, and she's refusing to do it."

Parker said he recently found Earl's car in San Antonio, and said she's been spotted working out at area Gold's Gyms.

Last week, with the help of the Bexar County Sheriff's office, Parker said he pinned her down at one San Antonio home, but believes she got out the back door.

“I have no authority of any kind, no badge,” said Parker. “I don't care what she does with the child, my job is to get the child back, and that's what I want to do. The child's in the wrong place with her."

Mason County Sheriff Buster Nixon said Earl may be going by the alias Teresa Paradez, and may have recently highlighted her hair. The boy is said to have a scar on the back of his neck, and is also listed in the National Center for Missing and Exploited Children.

According to Nixon, Earl is charged with Custodial Interference, a felony.
