The San Antonio City Council will decide next week on whether to place a proposed sales tax increase on the November ballot.
The 1/8 cent increase would be earmarked for Pre-K education for children who now are not getting it.
“We would deliver very high quality Pre-K to more than 22,000 young people in the next eight years for the cost of $7.81 to the average household in San Antonio,” Mayor Julian Castro said.
The mayor said the cost benefit analysis makes the tax hike proposal a terrific investment for the community.
