Mayor Julian Castro put a few significant rings on his fingers Friday.
"We have four NBA championship rings, and we're on our way to a fifth," Mayor Castro boasted.
The remark was meant to poke fun at Barkley who never won a NBA championship during his time on the court.
Castro took a few jabs at Barkley in the short video.
"I knew that we had to do something. The challenge really was to do something funny but not mean," Castro said.
One comment Barkley made was aimed out the San Antonio Riverwalk. Barkley referred to it as "a dirty little creek."
Barkley made mention of the Alamo, calling it "that place where everyone got killed".
But, what really got everyone upset, is when Barkley took a shot at the women of San Antonio saying "they ain't got no skinny women down there."
"There's no question the worst thing he said was about the women of the city. He insulted the women of the city," the mayor said.
Castro said as of Saturday afternoon, he had not heard from Barkley but he is scheduled to meet with him Monday. Castro said he hopes the two will come to an "understanding."
"We don't want on national television for the city to be put down," the mayor said.
