McDonald's employee hits 27-year mark
Milagros Ramirez wins award from company, compliments for customers
San Antonio resident Milagros Ramirez has been working at the same McDonald's restaurant for 27 years.
Last week, she was given McDonald’s prestigious Crew Person of the Year award, which has only been given to 22 employees across the country.
"She's dependable. She's honest. She's trustworthy," said Celia Jairala, the franchise owner.
Ramirez has worked in front of the store, mostly serving customers as a cashier and bringing them their food orders when need be.
"I love it. I love my work. I love the people," said Ramirez.
"She's a very a cheerful and happy person and she is very happy to help people," said Cheryl Carson, a longtime customer.
Ramirez moved to San Antonio in 1986 from Puerto Rico. She took her kids to the McDonald's on Perrin Beitel and then decided she wanted to work there.
She has been there since.
Over the years, she has raised three kids, all college graduates, bakes birthday cakes for customers and will take the time to take those who are not feeling well enough to get out a cup of coffee.
"To see somebody accomplish so much and have that much history, it just makes us really proud and honored," Jairala said.
Ramirez said she plans on serving her customers for another four years when will it be time to turn in her golden arches for golden her years, but until then, "I love it, like the (McDonald’s commercial) announces, 'I'm loving it.' Yeah, that's me."
