SAN ANTONIO -

Steele head football coach Mike Jinks tells KSAT 12 Sports he will announce his resignation Friday to move up to the college coaching ranks.

Jinks was reportedly hired as the running backs coach at Texas Tech and will take over the position on Monday. Jinx will also recruit in San Antonio and Austin for the Red Raiders football program.

The Red Raiders hired former Texas A&M offensive coordinator Kliff Kingsbury to take over as head coach in December.

Jinks has gone 43-4 over the past 3 seasons at Steele and turned the school into a state powerhouse. He led the Knights to back-to-back 5A state championship game appearances, winning the state title in 2010.
