Miss Fiesta 2013 crowned

Victoria Flores, 22, was chosen Miss Fiesta 2013 by a panel of judges Thursday evening.

The UT Health Science Center nursing student was crowned the winner after five finalists answered questions in front of an audience at the Bright Shawl Tea Room & Gallery.

The contestants had to also discuss their platform which includes a plan for a service project to benefit the community.

Flores, who works as a fitness instructor, plans to focus on the health of the community.

“We're going to provide health fairs to get the word out to the community about how be healthier, how to embrace those lifestyle changes so we can make a difference in San Antonio,” Flores said.

She will represent the city of San Antonio throughout the 2013 Fiesta celebration and reign as Miss Fiesta 2013 through March 2014.
