Mistrial declared in lavish party case
Jeanetta Tinsely faced 2 years in jail
A mistrial has been declared for a former city department head accused of funding a lavish farewell party for her predecessor with taxpayers' money.
After eight hours of deliberations, a judge dismissed the deadlocked jury in the trial of Jeanetta Tinsley.
The 43-year-old is charged with misapplication of funds that totaled more than $16,000.
That charge is still pending.
Tinsley was fired from the city's Office of Grants Monitoring and Administration back in 2009.
If she had been convicted, she would have faced up to two years in jail.
