Moldy sausage at one place and rodent droppings at another. Demerits like this led health inspectors to flunk two San Antonio businesses.
Stanley's Ice Station on East Commerce was recently given 37 by Metro Health. Here's some of what the inspector found.
- Raw eggs were not cold enough.
- Mold was found on some sausage in a fridge.
- There wasn't sufficient hot and cold water for all their sinks.
- The dorm-style refrigerator wasn't cutting it for potentially hazardous foods.
The owner tells KSAT-12's Behind the Kitchen Door someone had turned the hot water heater off and the dorm-style fridge has been replaced. He said all issues have been resolved.
Mi Guadalajara on Culebra failed their latest inspection with 36 demerits. Their trouble spots included:
- Sour cream, cheese and pico de gallo at 65 degrees.
- Hand washing violations.
- Evidence of flies and rodent droppings.
- They were told to stop skipping a step when hand-washing kitchen ware.
They were asked to correct their problems by Dec. 1, but Metro Health did not schedule a follow-up inspection for Mi Guadalajara.
