Fire crews battled a massive fire that broke out late Monday night at a compost company on the far East Side.
The fire was reported around 9 p.m. at New Earth Soils and Compost off Interstate 10 near Foster Road.
Initial reports stated pallets sitting on a conveyor belt went up in flames first.
The fire then spread to a large pile of mulch and caused massive flames to shoot into the sky.
A least a dozen SAFD units responded to the fire along with three Bexar County fire departments.
Fire officials said the goal was to contain the fire and keep it from spreading to another pile of mulch nearby. No structures or homes have been threatened by the fire.
No injuries have been reported. Crews will be on scene until the fire is put out, but fire officials said the blaze is likely to continue for a few days.
