Friends and family of a Bulverde man injured in the Colorado theater shooting in July got together at Gruene Hall on Sunday to help raise money to cover his mounting medical bills.
The show is called Texas Music Heals. Sunday's headliners included Wade Bowen and Ray Wiley Hubbard.
All proceeds from the show will go toward the Brent Lowak Survivor Fund, organizers said.
It's been about 3 months since Lowak was shot by a gunman who opened fire in a crowded theater in Aurora, Colorado.
Lowak was injured, but the shooting claimed the life of his friend, Jessica Ghawi.
On Sunday, Lowak wasn't ready to talk on camera, but he's continuing to recover. His friend, Meg Bodin, said he's very appreciative of all these fundraising efforts.
"Brent is doing really well," said Bodin. "Although the recovery is slow, it is sure. He's walking much more. His wound recovery is a little bit slower and he's not quite into physical therapy. That is something we are raising money for because he doesn't have medical insurance."
There was also a silent auction Sunday at Gruene Hall, but organizers said it would continue online until October 30th.
A link to the auction has been placed on the Brent Lowak Facebook page.
Organizers said they were expecting about 300 people to show up at Gruene Hall Sunday night.
