NBA lockout ends; Spurs fans celebrate
Fans of the San Antonio Spurs brace for a new season after news of a new 66-game season
The end of the NBA lockout is big news in San Antonio as Spurs fans gear up for another season.
"We're excited," said Peggy Guerrero, a Spurs fan. "I enjoy the Spurs."
And, while fans are excited that they will get to see their Spurs at the AT&T Center again, it's not clear when that will happen.
As of Saturday, details of a new schedule had not been announced.
Still, the season is expected to start on December 25th and Spurs fans in San Antonio are saying that's the perfect Christmas present.
"I'm just really glad it's over for everybody else," said Danny Workman, who is a Spurs fan, and employee at the Ticket Sports Bar downtown. "All the sports vendors at the place, the beer guy, the sports bars, all the people that count on an NBA season."
KSAT asked several fans what they've been doing without their Spurs throughout the 149 day lockout and many of them said they have started watching football.
"We had UTSA football," said Guerrero. "We have your Aggies, your Longhorns playing."
But now, at least here in San Antonio, Guerrero said all eyes will be on the Spurs during this short 66-game season.
"I'm ready for that 5th championship," said Guerrero. "I figure with the short season, we did it in 99, so, we can do it again in 2012."
