NE side apartment fire under investigation

The cause of a midday fire at the Spanish Spur apartments at S. New Braunfels and Pecan Valley is under investigation.

An SAFD incident commander said the fire was quickly contained after flames broke through the roof of a second story apartment.

No one was home at the time of the fire and several neighboring units were evacuated as a precaution.

Firefighters said it appears the fire may have started in the kitchen.

SAFD officials estimate damages at $150,000 to the building, plus $80,000 to its contents.
