SAN ANTONIO -

A dog taken in by the Animal Defense League was found with a skin condition that caused it to lose fur and have open, infected sores.

The terrier mix, nicknamed Roosevelt, was found near CPS Energy on Saturday.

ADL workers said Roosevelt suffered from sacroptic mange.

Because the condition was left untreated, the dog had open sores that had become infected. The dog also was found with fleas, ticks, and worms.

ADL workers blame a neglectful pet owner for Roosevelt's condition.

Veterinarians said the dog should be fully recovered in a few weeks.

The ADL is looking for a foster family to take in Roosevelt for a few weeks as he recovers. The foster family must have no other pets because his condition is contagious.

Potential foster parents are encouraged to come to ADL and visit with the foster coordinator or contact ADL at 210-655-1481.
