It's been nearly a decade since the Iraq War began and each year, thousands of veterans find themselves in need of help.
But Texas nonprofits are running out of funding, including some right here in San Antonio.
On Thursday, those local nonprofits are coming together for a summit.
They're trying to figure out how to increase funding and get more volunteers to help serve veterans.
Representatives from 60 organizations came together, each one serving military veterans and wounded warriors in some fashion.
"We need to get them educated so that they are effective and sustainable so they stick around and are able to support their clients," said Mary Beth Harrington.
One major issue many of these nonprofits are facing is lack of funding.
A large portion of their funding comes from the state and nonprofit organizers say it's impossible to meet the needs of all of these organizations.
