Off-duty Bexar County sheriff's deputy fires at suspected car thieves
No one believed to be hit, shooting on West Summit Avenue under investigation
An off-duty Bexar County sheriff's deputy was forced to open fire on a group of suspects attempting to break into his personal car early Monday morning, San Antonio police said.
The deputy's personal vehicle was parked outside a home in the 1400 block of West Summit Avenue.
The deputy caught the suspects breaking into the vehicle around 5:30 a.m. and fired shots.
San Antonio police officers responded to the shooting. They said it appears no one was hit.
The off-duty sheriff's deputy was questioned by police about the shooting. The Bexar County Sheriff's Office was expected to conduct an investigation and give more details at a later time.
