Travel agent takes money for cruise, cancels on San Antonio passengers

SAN ANTONIO -

Driving by the Cadillac Bar in downtown San Antonio last fall, Luz Gallegos and his wife noticed a flyer for an upcoming Tejano cruise.

"It captured my interest because it had to do with Tejano music and I love Tejano music," Gallegos said.

After paying $1,400 in $200 installments, Gallegos trip was booked for February 13 leaving out of Galveston.

Within a couple weeks of paying in full, Gallegos said he received an email from Soundwave Cruises travel agent, Jacob Dominguez, that said the cruise was canceled because of overbooking and a refund would be forthcoming.

Dominguez also offered to bump the couple to another cruise, but Gallegos stood firm, insisting he get his money back.

"After he canceled me, I got discouraged and I said that I didn't want to deal with a person that, you know, that canceled me out from the cruise because I was looking forward to it," Gallegos said.

Two months went by with no refund and when the cruise departure date drew near, Gallegos decided to drive to Galveston on the day of the cruise.

"When I did confront him, he apologized that he had canceled me and he said he would refund the money," Gallegos said.

The confrontation was four months ago and according to Gallegos, Dominguez was all talk.

"He has not refunded our money, he has not responded to our emails, we've called in numerous times and he hasn't responded at all," Gallegos said.

Several calls from the KSAT 12 Defenders have gone unreturned and it is worth noting that Dominguez' Soundwave Cruises website is temporarily unavailable.
