Partnership moves ACS closer to no-kill
Animal Defense League agrees to rescue more animals
An enhanced partnership the Animal Defense League should move Animal Care Services closer to its goal of becoming a no-kill shelter.
The new partnership, announced Friday, will feature bi-weekly visits to the shelter by the Animal Defense League, with the organization rescuing 5-10 pets each week.
“As we get into spring time, we're going to start to see more puppies, more kittens, so their help is needed now more than ever,” said Lisa Norwood, a spokeswoman for ACS.
The Animal Defense League expects to rescue about 500 animals from the shelter per year, providing them medical services and sterilization, then finding them permanent homes.
ACS currently finds homes for 70% of the animals brought in by the community.
