SAN ANTONIO -

San Antonio police report a passerby discovered a naked body sprawled in an alley near Steves & S. New Braunfels.

SAPD chief Bill McManus said the discovery was made about 7:30 a.m. between a strip center and Highland Terrace United Methodist Church.

He said the unidentified man, who appeared to be in his 30s, had obvious trauma to his face.

McManus said investigators are looking at two possible theories. He said the man may have been a victim of a crime -- possibly beaten -- or he may have somehow fallen from the strip center's roof.

A San Antonio Fire Department ladder truck was brought in to survey the scene from above.

Investigators now have said the man’s face was up against a low concrete barrier that he also was clasping with his hands as if he was trying to lift himself up.

The police report also states some people in the area had heard arguing overnight, and even saw two men near the body.

Police said they also found discarded clothing that may have belonged to the victim, on a sidewalk about half a block away.
