Pet treats, breakfast foods recalled
FDA: Some Kasel Industries' treats may be tainted with salmonella
All pet treats manufactured at Kasel Associated Industries' Denver plant from April 20 through Sept. 19 have been recallaed because of possible salmonella contamination, the FDA announced.
The recall affects several flavors of several brands including Boots and Barkley, BIXBI, Nature's Deli, Colorado Naturals, Petco and Best Bully Sticks. The treats were sold at several retailers including Target, Sam's Club, Costco and Petco.
Pets can get sick from eating tainted treats. People can also become ill from handling the treats.

Sausage to cereal, some breakfast foods have been recalled.
Smithfield Packing recalled 38,000 pounds of pork sausage after bits of plastic, likely from gloves, were found in it. The recall involves the 1-lb. package of Gwaltney Mild Pork Sausage roll.
The use-by date is March 12.
Kellogg's recalled boxes of Special K Red Berries cereal because it may contain glass fragments.
The sell-by dates on the three sizes of boxes involved are Nov. 30, 2013 or Dec. 2 2013. Consumer can contact Kellogg's for a coupon to get another box of cereal.
Chocolate and Apple Cinnamon BelVita Breakfast Biscuits have been recalled because they may contain bits of flexible metal mesh.
The use-by date on the affected products is Sept. 2, 2013.
