We all have hopes, dreams, and aspirations, but if you could take a picture of yours, what would it look like?
That was the question posed to a group of local kids living at the Haven for Hope facility, who were assigned with the task of photographing their hopes.
The program, "Pictures of Hope," is made possible by award-winning photojournalist Linda Solomon, who not only taught the kids how to use the camera. but also, how to express themselves through their pictures.
"It's so important because it builds their self esteem," said Solomon. "Imagine having your own photo and your name on a holiday card, for everyone in San Antonio to share."
For some, the hope was to go to Heaven, be a better big sister, or become a policeman.
"Some of them bring a tear to your eye," said Navarra Williams of SAMM Ministries. "They're very unselfish about some of the things they want to do. They want to be in some sort of position to help others."
The holiday cards are available for purchase at Cavender Dealerships across the city for $20.
Cavender Auto, which sponsored the program, will donate 100 percent of proceeds to SAMM Ministries.
