SAN ANTONIO, Texas -

A family received a rude wake-up call when a car crashed into their home, and police said the driver was drunk.

It happened at 2 a.m. Saturday on Southwest 34th Street and Motes Drive.

Police said a woman driving a red Ford Mustang tried making a turn when she lost control and crashed.

Arturo Molina said he was asleep on his couch when the car crashed into his home. The impact knocked him off the couch and sent him flying to the other side of the room.

Molina was taken to the hospital. He suffered three broken ribs and dislocated his shoulder.

Molina's son was also home at the time. The couch hit him in the leg when the car crash.

"It just happened like you wouldn't believe. You don't expect this to happen at 2 o'clock in the morning or while you're asleep," said Molina.

The woman tried running from the scene but was caught by police.

Investigators said she will be charged with driving while intoxicated and failure to stop and render aid.

The name of the driver was not immediately released.
