A single vehicle accident on Southwest Loop 410 landed two people in jail Sunday evening.

San Antonio police said the driver of a Cadillac Escalade was speeding on South Loop 410, right before Interstate 35, when he lost control and crashed.

Police said both the driver and his female passenger took off running after the crash.

"One witness said they passed him going at a high rate of speed and swerving all over the road," said Sergeant Steven Markgraf, with the San Antonio Police Department. "The guy appears to be intoxicated, as well as the passenger."

Police said the two didn't get very far and were caught a quarter of a mile down the road.

"The two didn't appear to be hurt from the accident, but they did suffer some minor injuries, from falling as they ran," said Markgraf.

Officers administered a DWI test on the driver and soon after took him into custody.

Markgraf said the driver will be charged with driving while intoxicated. Both face charges of evading arrest.
