SAN ANTONIO -

Trinidad Corona, 31, is facing a theft charge after a Southwest side woman said he took her purse containing $2,000 from her car.

The woman reported the theft to San Antonio police Feb. 5, saying that she had left the purse in her car outside her home for just a few minutes.

She said she had carried her infant and groceries into her home, then returned to her car where she saw Corona removing her purse, which contained $2,000 in cash, an arrest warrant affidavit stated.

The woman told police she yelled at Corona to stop, but he ran away.

The affidavit stated that although the woman had seen Corona around her neighborhood, and knew him as a neighborhood thief, she did not know his name.

It stated that a friend was able to supply police with Corona’s name and show them where he lives. Corona was arrested Thursday on a charge of theft.
