San Antonio police say a suspect in the robbery of El Valle Molino restaurant has been captured quickly, thanks to the thorough descriptions provided by witnesses.
Police received the call about the robbery at the Southwest side business after 1 p.m. Sunday.
Within about an hour, they had made an arrest in connection with the case.
Workers at the business in the 5600 block of Old Pearsall Road told police a man pointed a handgun at them and demanded cash.
Police said the workers also provided a description of the getaway car—a red pickup with a missing license plate—to officers.
Lt. Carthel Williams with the police department’s robbery division said officers quickly spotted the vehicle at a nearby Valero station and questioned two people who were inside the truck.
Williams said it turned out that neither of them had any role in the robbery.
However, they pointed investigators toward a home on Fisher’s Bend Street where they made an arrest.
"Officers were looking at the house at the time when an actor come out wearing clothing that resembled what was worn in the robbery," Williams said. "(The suspect) spotted some marked units and he took off on foot."
Police arrested the man, whose name was not released immediately, on a charge of aggravated robbery.
Williams said officers found a second man hiding in the attic of the home, but he was not arrested. He said the man apparently thought he had outstanding warrants, and that officers were after him.
