Police: Thief steals car with baby inside

A 1-year-old baby is safe at home tonight after a thief drove off with him strapped in the back of a stolen SUV.

It happened at about 4 p.m. this afternoon in the parking lot of the Golds Gym at Crossroads.

Police said while family members were changing vehicles, a thief jumped in their Tahoe, which was running already, and sped off.

Moments later, the car thief dropped off the baby outside of a store at the Dell Village Shopping Center on Vance Jackson, police said.

Police said they recovered the stolen Tahoe on Becky Renee Street in Balcones Heights.

Police said the baby is okay.
