San Antonio police are trying to determine if there’s a connection between a woman found dead in a car parked on the West side Thursday morning and an overnight disturbance that happened nearby.
Police said they received a call shortly after 5 a.m. about the woman who was slumped over the wheel of the car on N. Hamilton Avenue near Culebra Road.
“They contacted EMS, who made the location,” said Sgt. Javier Salazar, spokesman for SAPD. “They tried to revive the woman but were unsuccessful."
Salazar said the woman was covered in blood and in the driver’s seat of the car.
He said investigators are looking in to the possibility that she may have been involved in another incident earlier in the morning, about two blocks from where her body was found.
"A woman had been knocking on windows and knocking on one of them so hard that, in fact, she broke one of the windows and cut herself quite severely," Salazar said.
At that other scene in the 2100 block of W. Laurel Street, a trail of blood stretched from the front porch of a home, down the sidewalk and ended abruptly at the curb
Crime scene investigators spent part of the morning collecting samples of that blood.
Salazar said they will have to determine whether the woman in the car might be the same one who was injured on Laurel Street. He said it will be up to the medical examiner’s office to find how she died.
As of 11 a.m., the dead woman’s identity had not been released, but Salazar said she was in her early 40s.
