Police say speed and drinking were factors in a crash that sent two people to the hospital early Sunday morning.
It happened just after 2 a.m. in the 6400 block of De Zavala.
Police say the 24 year-old driver lost control, slammed into a telephone pole then into a tree.
The 19 year-old passenger had to be cut out of the car. She was taken to the hospital.
The driver of the SUV went to the hospital as a precaution.
Police say he will be charged with intoxication assault.
