Police seek help identifying man
Body was found in Woodlawn Lake Wednesday
The Bexar County Medical Examiner’s Office is asking for the public's help in identifying an unidentified man who was found dead Wednesday.
A jogger saw the man's body floating near south bank of the Woodlawn Lake around 9:35 a.m. The jogger called 911 and flagged down an San Antonio Police Department patrol officer.
The San Antonio Fire Department recovered the body from the lake and pronounced the man dead at the scene at 9:39 am. The official location of this recovery is the 500 block of South Josephine Tobin Drive.
Authorities said the decedent’s body was decomposed. An artist rendering of the man was done along with two renderings of two tattoos on the decedent. Police said the man is between 40 and 60-years-old. He was found wearing olive colored jeans, a brown belt, white socks and white tennis shoes. There was a large tear on the seat of the pants. He was not wearing any jewelry. He had an old large vertical surgical scar in the middle of his abdomen.
A tattoo was noted on each of this individual’s upper arms. His right upper arm featured a cross above a banner with possibly the word "AZTEC" on the banner. Under the banner was a circle or wheel. On his left upper arm was a tattoo of a banner with birds at each end of the banner. "Jim" and another unrecognizable word are located on the banner.
Police said they believe the individual was a homeless man who roamed the streets near the Woodlawn Lake area.
