For months, rumor has had it that a vacant storefront at the Quarry Village would be home to one of the first Trader Joe's Grocery stores in Texas.
Rumors began circulating in January after the company posted a job opening for a manger in San Antonio on it's website.
Now it's official.
Allie Gillespie, who works at a shop at the Quarry Village, said the store has been the talk of the community.
"Our customers are excited around here. Our residents who live here are excited," she said.
Trader Joe's is known for it's specialty foods, low prices and laid-back attitude. Employees uniforms are Hawaiian shirts. It's also known for Charles Shaw wine, which sells for $2 a bottle, also known as "Two Buck Chuck."
The store has a lot of fans -- there's even a Facebook group called San Antonio Needs A Trader Joe's, with more than 550 members. That page is blowing up with comments from excited fans
Even people who've never been to a Trader Joe's are catching on to the hype.
Mariness Gonzalez, who lives near Quarry Village said, "It would be so exciting to have a Trader Joe's here. I've never been to that grocery store but I hear wonderful things about it. It'd be so convenient."
There's still a lot of renovation needed at at storefront to turn it into a grocery store but it shouldn't be long.
It's rumored to open in the summer -- possibly July or August.
