Poteet resident Imelda Barraza is desperate for help after someone stole her deceased son's MacBook. Javier Barraza died of cancer three years ago at the age of 17.
Barraza said two months ago, she found a recording of her son's voice on his Mac Book, which brought her some comfort after his death.
"Of course, it was a shocker cause I hadn't heard his voice," said Barraza. "So, it was really hard to listen to him, talking with his friend."
Barraza said now the MacBook is gone, stolen from her home, and with it, all the memories of her only son, including the recording she found, his pictures and even some of some of his writings.
"I'm just scared that they already made it their own and erased it," said Barraza. "And, I'm never going to get that back."
Barraza said she had been out of town when her husband let two neighborhood teens stay the night in their home.
Imelda confronted both teens, but got nowhere.
"I called her and she said it was her friend that took it," said Barraza. "And, when I called him, he said she took it. So, they blamed each other. I begged them, please give it back."
However, Barraza said what's on the laptop is more important than the laptop itself.
"It means a lot to me what's in it," she said. "And, I guess if I could get all the stuff off of it, they can keep it."
Barraza filed a report with the Atascosa Sheriff's Office in Jourdanton and she's hoping anyone with any information about her son's computer will come forward.
