GALVESTON, Texas (AP) — About 1,000 mourners have attended a candlelight vigil for two Central Texas firefighters who died during a weekend blaze.

Bryan Fire Department Lt. Eric Wallace and Lt. Gregory Pickard were remembered Sunday night during the prayer service at a high school football stadium. Bryan city officials plan a formal public memorial service Wednesday at Central Baptist Church in College Station.

Wallace and Pickard died Saturday of injuries suffered fighting a blaze that broke out late Friday in an unoccupied Knights of Columbus Hall. Two other firefighters suffered burns.

Ricky Mantey (man-TYE') Jr. and Mitchel Moran (muh-RAN') were in serious but stable condition Monday at the University of Texas Medical Branch in Galveston.

Investigators say it could take several months to determine what caused the fire.
