Preparations are underway for the 33rd annual Raul Jimenez Thanksgiving Dinner.  

It is expected to feed 25,000 people on Thursday. 

Chefs began prepping Monday, with many of the finishing touches applied Wednesday morning.

All of the food is prepared by volunteers.

"It’s a few hundred every day. I think over the course of the week, including tomorrow, there’s four times as many with the servers and everything,” said Craig Bianco, a chef for the event. “We'll have upwards of 2,000 to 3,000 volunteers."

Volunteers on Wednesday morning included Sen. John Cornyn and the Southside High School girl’s basketball team, who used the opportunity for team bonding.

"Our coaches thought it would be a good opportunity to help out our community and just show that we like to give back,” said Desiree Rodriguez.

Doors open at 9 a.m. Thursday. The Raul Jimenez Thanksgiving Dinner is held at the Henry B. Gonzales Convention Center and is free to all who are looking for warm Thanksgiving meal.
