On Valentine's Day, more than a dozen couples renewed their vows at the Independence Hill Retirement Community in north San Antonio in a special ceremony.
Couples at Thursday's ceremony were celebrating more than 60 and, for some, 70 years of marriage.
Lura Wurzbach, who was there with her husband, William, said she will never forget the first time she met him.
"We met at a dance," said Wurzbach. "And the first thing he said to me was, 'Where have you been all my life?' and I thought he was so handsome."
Some 62 year, three children, nine grandchildren and 10 great-grandchildren later, Lura and William are renewing their vows at Independence Hill.
The Wurzbachs were joined by 12 other couples on Thursday, including Roland and Eleanor Poirier, who have been married for 72 years.
"I think I gave her a radio and a friendship ring," said Roland Poirier. "That's a friendship ring. That's old."
"We get along good," said Eleanor Poirier. "It's been 72 years, almost 73. We have two children we love and they love us. That's the main thing."
Eleanor Poirier said the advice she would give to married couples today is just to get along.
"Just get along," she said. "Live and love and learn. You are never too old to learn."
